Class meets once a week for 6 weeks, on the same day and at the same time each week. Each classroom session lasts for 55 minutes. Choose a starting date/time to register for that 6-week series.
The cost of the 6-week series is $200. Class size is limited to 6 dogs.
Sport and performance dogs must function as well adjusted members of society — with an added dash of jet fuel. Getting that mix right means teaching self control and reliability without sacrificing intensity and zest. A performance dog must work in new environments — without equipment and with no primary rewards — for extended periods of time. Skillful delivery of meaningful rewards during training, proper exposure to future working environments, deeply rooted foundation behaviors, building endurance and a committed focus to the handler, and more will be covered in this class. The small class size allows for individual coaching and problem-solving time. Portions of this class may be held outside, weather and activity permitting.
The instructor for this class is Chad Byerly. Chad enjoys working with performance dogs and has experience as a Mondioring decoy, trainer, and handler.
Sport Dog Foundation Skills is a reward-based class. Treats, toys, play and praise are generously utilized. Chad recommends that you bring your dog to class on a front-clip harness or a flat buckle collar or regular harness. Bring a six-foot leash, long line (optional), lots of tasty, healthy treats and a tug toy (or two), and management chew (optional).
Sport Dog Foundation Skills is for active and aspiring sport dogs. As long as your dog is old enough to have received his first rabies vaccination, he may register for this class.
