Game On!
Fun & Challenging Games Workshop
Put you and your dog to the ultimate test with a series of challenging games. Think you have a stable stay? How about a reliable recall that races the clock? Can your loose leash walking survive the obstacle course of doom and distractions? Does your dog really know what you think he knows? Take this class to find out! There’ll be plenty of time for actual training, too!

Workshop Duration

This is a single workshop/game-night. Workshop lasts for 60 minutes.

Cost & Size

The cost of Game On! is $30 per dog. Workshop size is currently limited to 6 dogs. There is no formal pre-requisite for this class, however, your dog should have some level of sit-stay or down-stay, and of come when called.

Curriculum

Games are a great way to challenge your training while having fun with your dog. At each workshop session there will be several games, including games that test your dog's self-control, stay, recall, recognition of cues, and speed of response. The games will be explained/demonstrated and then all teams will have a chance to practice and train for each game before playing! Sarah will give you tips and training tricks that suit your level and best prepare you and your dog for the challenges ahead! Emphasis is on games that develop and test for real-world skills. Problem solving, teamwork, and helping and rewarding your dog are strongly encouraged! The classroom environment offers you the opportunity to practice skills around dogs and handlers working on the same activities. The small class size ensures plenty of individualized coaching.

Instructor

The instructor for this class is Sarah Keegans. Sarah will help adjust each game for your dog's current focus, motivation, level of training, and comfort, if necessary. She will help you practice consistent and clear communication so that you more effectively guide your dog in varied circumstances.

Tools & Methods

Game On! is a reward-based workshop. Treats, toys, play and praise are generously utilized. Sarah recommends that you bring your dog to class on a front-clip harness or a flat buckle collar or regular harness. Bring a six-foot leash, lots of tasty, healthy treats and a tug toy (optional), settle mat (optional).

Who It's For

Game On! is for family dogs of any age. If your dog shows significant hesitation in new environments or around new people, this workshop may be too chaotic for you.

If your dog lunges and barks at other dogs or at people, please do not register for this workshop. Instead, check out our Rowdy & Reactive Program instead.
