Group classes are offered on Sunday afternoon/evening and on Monday evening. Class meets once a week for 6 weeks, on the same day and at the same time each week. Each classroom session lasts for one hour. Choose a starting date/time for details and to register for that 6-week series. Group classes are available only to current and past participants in our Rowdy & Reactive Program (previously offered at PosiDog Canine Learning Center).
The cost of each six-week series is $250 if taken alone as a refresher or repeated course. (The cost of the initial six-week series is included in the Rowdy & Reactive Program fee, and participants receive a code for the registration fee upon enrollment in the full program.) Class is limited to six dogs, and there is often a trained helper dog in the class as well. The small class size ensures plenty of individualized coaching.
The group class environment offers your dog the opportunity to practice disengaging from other dogs and moving with you on a loose leash around other dogs and handlers working on the same activity. Repetition of this single skill, with designated break areas and steady coaching, gives your dog the best chance for successful practice (short of private lessons). You will also have the opportunity to rehearse handling and managing your dog in a controlled environment, learn earlier warning signs of trouble and practice earlier and more effective interventions.
The instructors for this class are Chad Byerly and Sarah Keegans. Chad and Sarah ran the PosiDog Leash Reactivity Program from 2009 through 2022, and have brought all of their knowledge and experience into the next generation of the Rowdy & Reactive Program for CynoCentric.
Rowdy & Reactive is a reward-based program. Food rewards and praise are generously utilized in this class. Safe, effective and humane equipment is required in this class which was covered in the orientation.
Rowdy & Reactive: Group Class is for dogs who pull, lunge and/or bark at or toward other dogs when on leash. Rowdy & Reactive: Group Class is intended to be taken as part of the Rowdy & Reactive Program. Current participants of CynoCentric’s Rowdy & Reactive Program and prior graduates of PosiDog Canine Learning Center’s Rowdy & Reactive Program may register for this class.
